Meet the team

As part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), all children will have a key person assigned to them, which allows your child to build a familiar and trusting relationship with a member of pre-school staff who will support and help them to develop throughout their time at SKIPS.
All staff are appointed by the SKIPS committee and will have completed or will undertake the relevant recognised statutory training courses, and are enhanced DBS checked.

Jodie

Jodie

Joint Manager (cURRENTLY ON mATERNITY LEAVE)

I have been working at SKIPS since the Spring of 2016 where I initially worked part-time hours at the teatime club alongside my full-time job at West Kidlington School, before becoming Manager in November 2018. I studied at Pen Green Research Centre where I gained my level 6 degree in Early Childhood and Education. I am very passionate about early years teaching and child development, and I enjoy getting fully involved with all aspects of the children’s learning. I particularly love to create an exciting learning environment and get a lot of pleasure in seeing children’s individual progress. I take great satisfaction in leading my fantastic team and helping them succeed towards their own personal goals. Outside of work, I like to take my dog for walks in the countryside, and I enjoy spending time with my husband and family.

Joint manager

I have worked at skips since 2015 and I absolutely love the setting and as a parent myself, I would recommend the setting to anyone who has children. I have 15 years of childcare experience and have two children of my own. I have an NVQ level 3 qualification in childcare, along with safeguarding and first aid training. I am very passionate about my job and love welcoming new children and parents to the setting, always making it my target to get to know both children and parents.

Fiona

Fiona

Preschool Assistant/SENCO

I started working at SKIPS in 2003 as a 1:1 support worker. Over the years I reduced the hours I worked as a Paediatric nurse and took on a larger role of part-time assistant then the full-time role I do now. I continuously reflect on my practice and relish any training opportunities. I enjoy sharing my experiences with staff, students, and families and learn from them and the uniqueness of children daily. I have a particular passion to help and see progress made by children with EAL and SEND but all children developing the best they can never fail to give me pleasure. I moved to Kidlington from Scotland in 1992 and have 3 grown-up children. I enjoy going to visit them and long canal walks with my husband plus using my amateur dramatics skills to amuse SKIPS children.

Lopa

Lopa

Pre-school Assistant

I joined SKIPS in January 2021 after a big career break. After completing my Master’s and before moving to the UK in 2013, I worked for eight years in banking. However, I was exposed to and involved in running my parent’s preschool (completed 32 years this year) in India and I always felt a strong inclination about working with children. When my daughter started in SKIPS, I loved the environment she was in and truly appreciated the good work of the whole team. So when an opportunity came I did not hesitate to start this new journey and I am loving every bit of it. Although I started as a Lunchtime assistant. My other role is as a Volunteer Unit Helper of Rainbow Girlguiding. My hobbies are cooking, playing with crochet, making crafts and travelling.
