Our Committee

SKIPS pre-school is a registered charity and a non-profit making organisation. It is run by a parent-led voluntary committee comprising Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and general committee members. As a community based, voluntary managed setting, we depend on the goodwill of parents and their involvement to keep going. Joining the committee is also an excellent way of getting involved with your child’s early education!

Committee members are elected at the AGM, normally held in July, but anyone wishing to join the committee at another time will be very welcome. All committee members are subject to DBS (Police) and Ofsted checks. Please speak to a member of the existing committee for more information via this email address: skipschair@gmail.com

The committee normally meets once per month and is responsible for the effective running of SKIPS pre-school, such as managing the setting’s finances, employing and managing the pre-school’s staff, ensuring the setting has, and works to, policies that help it provide a high quality service, and making sure the setting works in partnership with the children’s parents.

I became the secretary for SKIPS in July 2021. My youngest child attended SKIPS before starting Reception and I want to give something back to this fantastic little pre-school. In my role as secretary, I will support the Chair in general administration and enjoy working with the other committee members and staff at SKIPS.

Marketing Lead

I joined the committee in October 2021. With experience in design and editorial work the marketing lead role was perfect for me. My role is to design, arrange printing and distribution of advertising, work on digital media and liaise with local newspapers and magazines. I also joined the committee to meet new people and to give something back to Skips as both my children have been to Skips and have really enjoyed the setting.

I joined the SKIPs committee in early 2022 as Policy Lead, reviewing and approving the setting policies, as well as generally contributing to committee activities. I have two children, who have both been to SKIPS and thrived in its nurturing environment. My background is business management for a global academic publisher and I couldn’t be happier that hybrid working now allows me to play a more significant part in the community.
